Die Struck pins – often referred to as ‘stamped’ or ‘soft enamel’ pins, made from iron or brass
Design is ‘stamped’ out of base material, and pins are hand painted. Small metal lines separate colors, up to 5 colors included, more can be added. These pins are heavier than most, especially if stamped out of iron. Brass material is lighter, and slightly more expensive. Pins are usually finished with a protective epoxy cover or ‘dome’, FREE of charge. This ‘dome’ protects from scratching and adds a nice shiny finish. If you prefer the design to be ‘felt’ when touched, we can leave the epoxy off at your request. These types of pins are very popular and inexpensive; gold, silver, bronze, copper, black, antique gold, antique silver, antique bronze, or antique copper plating available.
Printed Pins – also called ‘off-set printed’, ‘silk-screened’ or ‘photo pins’
Design is ‘printed’ on base material, usually aluminum or brass. The advantage to PRINTED pins is there is no color limit. Also, we can do gradients or ‘tints and shades’ not possible with hand painted pins. These pins lighter pins, and a bit less expensive. Thickness can be added to the base metal at your request and at more cost, in order to give more perceived value. Standard thickness depends on the pin size, but typically ranges from .8mm to 1.2mm. Pins are always finished with a protective epoxy cover or ‘dome’, FREE of charge. This ‘dome’ protects from scratching and adds a nice shiny finish. These types of pins are very popular and inexpensive; base metal can be gold, silver, bronze, copper, or black.
Zinc Alloy Pins
Design is very similar to ‘DIE STRUCK’ option. Colors, if used, are separated by metal lines. Edges tend to be more rounded than die struck. This option is great for 3D pins or HIGH RELIEF pins and emblems. Finishes available are gold, silver, bronze, copper, black, antique gold, antique silver, antique bronze, or antique copper.
